Description

When love dies
It is the winter of your life
Icicles hang from your heart and soul
Like stalactites and stalagmites of grief
and there is no winter heat
From the warm body
that once lay next to you
and there is nothing you can do
no fire or furnace can replace
that warm loving look on her face
and you have energy to chase
any other chance for love
because you cold inside
with no where to hide
from the bitterness
that is by your side
instead of her
Love that dies has no cure
until your heart can find warmth
in the comfort of another lonely soul
there is no thermostat that can control
the burrs of love that once was sure
and there is no artic feeling
that is colder than the healing
that you must undergo
but it’s the only you know
you must shake all the snow
that has drifted through
your heart and soul
and seek a thaw
for your trembling jaw
and your shivering flesh
and find another love that’s fresh
to bring the summer back
In the heat of another’s eyes
leaving love’s cruelest
winters far behind
because the world is full
of lonely souls whose
love has cooled
sadly we all get schooled
that true love is elusive
and all the rest can turn abusive
to the dreams that two once shared
when one’s no longer there
and slowly you will lose the care
you felt for them
and soon you will begin again
to feel Love’s winter heat
making you life complete
in the summer of new love
the kind we all dream of
endure the cold of reason lost
and find true love at any cost
and melt the frost
on paths of love
you’ve not yet crossed
embracing new love
warm and soft.
I wish you well in
your wintry hell
It is a place that I know well
but I have bid such pain farewell
Farwell......
and only time will tell
what new love will bring to you?
