Hi, I'm Marcus Christiansen and I'm a DJ, Producer and label owner from Stockholm. When this episode gets released, I've been DJ:ing for almost 14 years. I've also been making music on and off for almost as long as I've been DJ:ing.
Musically, before I ended up with my beloved modern italo disco and eurodance sound, I think I touched on most electronic music genres on my journey, including both edm, industrial techno, house, garage and even indie electronic at some point (not the Beatport kind). Both as a DJ and producer.
When I started releasing music I had a really hard time getting any response at all from record labels. Because of that, in 2018 I set up my own label, Club Mackan, as a way of releasing my own music. After eventually releasing music on a few labels like Mélopée Records, Espacio Cielo and Toulouse Gouffre Club, I decided I wanted to include more artists than just myself on the label.
From November 2022 and onwards, we've had a lot of talented artists bless Club Mackan with their music, both original and remixes. Some of the artists include; Mundo D, Bizzarro Universe, Miguel de Bois, Bubs, Alen Skanner, Brandski, Mon Cher Guy and many more. Since then the label has taken off pretty well. The only thing holding it back really is my limited time as I'm doing all of it myself.
The Card 32: Dundiel - Prolapse
They speak about the world, our surrounding. They advise and give council on how to approach life as a big picture. Also tell about what was and what’s coming. Each season has it’s own qualities. The bearer needs to recognise in them what he reflects, what he needs. This card will point you in a direction, not necessarily with the strength of a command but rather guide you.
Lead Aging, fortitude of heart, justice, longing, elegy, melancholy remembrance of the things past. Time to look back. Time to be grateful. The last hope. Then it came Dundiel crossed by ageing, where fortitude and love filled one's heart. Justice was sought and longing appread in the ways of elegies.
How did the meaning of the tarot card inspire the journey of this mix?
I feel like I've been at a crossroads as of lately. Do I stick with the 80s sound or move over to the faster 90s and 00s sound that is so popular at the moment? Can I do both? Which makes more sense for me?
I've been longing to connect more with the DJ's and clubbers in Stockholm, and somehow I imagined it would be easier if I played more similar music to the other DJs in Stockholm. For a time now, I've wanted to have an outlet to try this faster 90s and 00s sound. And like a gift from above, I got a Wednesday residency during the whole summer where I've been able to start with the 80s sound and end with the faster 90s and 00s.
My sets have been about 3h - 3h 30 min long, and this mix would be a good example of the second half of my sets. It's a mix of newly released music with the best house, trance and euro dance from the 90s and 00s. It's been a lot of fun, and I think moving forward, I could quite possibly do both!
