Art Howe signed his first baseball playing contract at age 24, with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1971.after 11 years as a player he would continue as a coach, scout and manager.He managed the Astros (1989–93), Oakland Athletics (1996–2002), and New York Mets (2003–04), and currently sits at #49 in all time wins by a manager with 1129 wins, 20 of those wins came in a row with the 2002 Oakland A's an American League record that stood for 12 seasons, until this past week the Cleveland Indians won 21 and 22 giving them the new Mark.
