and the Media after Rangers 6-2 win over Islanders. Artemi Panarin tied a single-game career-high with five points (two goals, three assists), registered six shots on goal, and posted a plus-four rating. Panarin was selected as the game’s First Star. He posted a five-point game for the second time in his NHL career (the first was on Dec. 8, 2017 at New Jersey as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets), and he is the first Rangers forward who has posted a five-point game since Derick Brassard on Jan. 25, 2016 vs. Buffalo. Panarin has recorded three or more points in each of the last four home games (five goals, nine assists). According to NHL Stats and Information, Panarin is the second Ranger in franchise history who has registered three or more points in four consecutive home games (Andy Bathgate – Nov. 8 – Nov. 19, 1961). He has posted his 20th multi-point game of the season tonight, and he is tied for the NHL lead in multi-point games in 2019-20. Panarin also registered his 40th assist of the season in tonight’s contest. He is the first Ranger who has recorded 40 or more assists in the team’s first 45 games of a season since Jaromir Jagr in 2006-07. Panarin has notched 40 or more assists in each of his first five NHL seasons, and he is the third undrafted player in league history who has tallied at least 40 assists in each of his first five seasons (along with Wayne Gretzky and Peter Stastny). He extended his assist/point streak to four games, and he has registered 12 points (four goals, eight assists) over the span. Panarin has also posted a three-point game in six of the last nine games (six goals, 16 assists over the span). According to NHL Stats and Information, Panarin is the first Ranger in franchise history who has registered six three-point games over a nine-game span. He has registered at least one point in 35 of 45 games this season (26 goals, 41 assists). Over the last 40 seasons (since 1979-80), Panarin is one of only two Rangers who have registered 67 or more points through the team’s first 45 games of a season (Jaromir Jagr – 69 in 2005-06). He leads the NHL in several categories this season, including even strength points (52), even strength assists (32), 5-on-5 points (45), and 5-on-5 assists (29) this season.
