Description

Don Kessinger was one of the major leagues baseballs best shortstops for 16 years. He played for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox.[1] He was a six-time All-Star, he his defensive skills earned him back to back gold gloves in 1969 and 1970] He also was a  player-manager for the Chicago White Sox the last player manager in  American League history..If that wasn't enough he also would spend six years as the baseball coach at his alma mater, the University of Mississippi.  leading the Rebels to four 30-win seasons where His 1995 team produced a school record for wins, going 40-22 and  Both of his sons  played for him at Ole Miss. Following the 1996 season, Kessinger resigned his head coaching position to become Mississippi's Associate Athletics Director for Internal Affairs, while concurrently serving as Chair of the NCAA Baseball Rules Committee.
