Nelson Figueroa attended Brandeis University from 1992–1995 where he pitched for three years and earned a bachelor's degree in American Studies. In 1994, he played collegiate summer baseball in the Cape Cod League.He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 30th round of the 1995 Major League Baseball draft. He was 26 years old when he broke into the big leagues on June 3, 2000, with the Arizona Diamondbacks.becoming the first Brandeis University alumnus to reach the major leagues He would go onto to have a 9 year major league career playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Mets, and Houston Astros. He also played for the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) in Taiwan. he also was maybe one of the best post-game studio analyst on New York Mets SNY broadcasts.
