Paul Gardner had some pretty big skates to fill following in the footsteps of his famous father Cal and older brother Dave, a star with the Toronto Marlboros who also played in the NHL. He responded to that challenge by eclipsing most of his older brother's scoring marks. He was selected in the first round, eleventh overall in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft by the Kansas City Scouts.who later became the Colorado Rockies.In his rookie Rockies season he averaged almost a point per game, scoring 30 goals and 59 points in 60 games, finishing second in team scoring to Wilf Paiement. .He scored 30 or more goals in 5 of the 10 seasons in his NHL career and finished his NHL career with over 200 goals and over 200 assists, He joins us tonight as he also spent 10 years side my side as an assistant coach with the newest Islanders Head coach Barry Trotz, He joins Mark and AJ to talk about it all.
