It doesn’t seem like it was all that long ago that the group of high caliber women’s marathoners in Canada was a lot smaller. Take 2014 for example, that year saw just 3 women dip under the 2:40 mark, a time that was bested a grand total of 10 times in 2018, with a couple of debuts already this year below that time, and a third promising one to come.
With the field getting stronger and stronger, it’s likely to push those who have already arrived, and those who are yet to come to utilize every tool made available to them, and to innovate and try new things to try and maximize their position. Leslie Sexton, a marathon national champion, did just that this year, making her way out west to better weather and a plethora of potential training partners on the west coast, avoiding the snow and Ice of her home in London, Ontario. Leslie joins us this week to talk about that experience, what her spring is looking like, and a whole lot more.
