It’s a frustrating, but relatable feeling...to go into something with peak preparation, possessing all the confidence that you can pull it off just days or even moments before something unexpected happens happens, and all your best laid plans go to waste. It’s what makes sport so exciting, but also what can make them so heartbreaking. That is a story that Jack Sheffar is all too familiar with when it comes to the USport Indoor Championships...an unfortunate lap counting incident and illness have kept him from being his best, despite phenomenal seasons before, pointing to almost guaranteed medals. This year was different though, after a season that saw him beat big names and run a 7:56 3,000m, the 5th year Western Mustang knew this was it, and delivered in a big way, winning both the 1,500m and 3000m titles, and securing redemption along the way as well. This week, we chat with Jack about his season, the ghosts of seasons past, and what to expect from him going forward.
