"And the most obvious way to open the scripture for us is to look at our barrenness; all of us have barrenness," Father Perry tell us in his homily for Monday of the Fourth Week in Advent and the 19th episode of our Advent podcast. "But barrenness in our souls. It's called sin, and all of us are broken in some way by sin. And we go through life recognizing that barrenness. The challenge ... is for us to notice and take stock of our barrenness, name it, embrace it, open it before God, and seek for ways in which the grace of God can come into our lives and make a change."
