"This is a time to turn ourselves inside-out, to take a good look at ourselves," Father Perry tells us for our 9 a.m. celebration of Ash Wednesday. "This isn't the time to hate [Lent]; this is a time to love, a time to open up deeper, to discover more life in us, to see what changes we can make to be holy — holier — to have more life in us, to have more love alive in us."
