By Father Timothy McGowan

"Those two coins, Jesus would have held up those to be valuable. They were probably made of copper, maybe worth a few cents. But in Jesus' eyes they were pure gold," Father Tim tells us for the 37th episode of our Sunday Homilies podcast, and our celebration of the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time. "They symbolized something that he deeply valued. And what he deeply valued was the spirit of giving, the spirit of sacrificial giving. Love never reaches its pinnacle until it includes a willingness on my part to sacrifice. These coins of this poor widow stood for that kind of sacrificial giving."
