I'm taking off to Burning Man for my 13th time tomorrow. And over the years I would spend a good amount of time leading up to the burn making a mix, burning it on onto CDs, and handing out to people as gifts. This was my gift for 2009...i even included some sounds of the playa on there that I had recorded in 2008.
I'm a house DJ, but my soul is also deeply rooted in trance, progressive, and I guess what the kids call these days "deep house" or "playa tech." I was a candy raver, and I still am at heart. I have never really been able to be one of those "too cool for school" DJs, no matter how hard I try. I love joy, I love those moments where you feel free. And the Playa Dreams mixes were made to reflect that feeling.
So if you're headed out to Black Rock City, or not, hope you enjoy some old school trancey sounds, and are transported. 2009 was a good year and I'm so glad to be still heading out to the playa in 2019, DJing for some of my favorite camps! It's a dream come true, really!
