About 3000 years ago the Sea Peoples from somewhere in Western Europe migrated across the Mediterranean and caused the colllapse of most Bronze Age civilisations. This tone poem imagines a Hittite ship returning home to Asia Minor, as the crew discover the Sea Peoples have raided and destroyed their homes. The music begins with a prayer of thanksgiving to Abunapunte, the Hittite Goddess of the Sea in anticipation of the completion of a safe journey. But it would not turn out so.
