In the Lord's Prayer, Jesus models prayer for His disciples using six petitions addressed to our heavenly Father. In the fifth petition, Jesus underscores the importance of forgiveness in the life of a Christ follower, and three key facts illustrate the principle Jesus tries to get across to us: (1) we need to acknowledge our need for forgiveness; (2) we need to appropriate the gift of forgiveness; and (3) we need to accept the condition of forgiveness.
