Description

If you've ever battled disordered eating, you know the pain, fear, and shame that can feel suffocatingly overwhelming. And if you've overcome an eating disorder, you understand the freedom that opens up for you when food is no longer the center of your world. In this episode of The Diet Doc Life Mastery podcast, Kori and Joe share the experience of a client who experienced a binge eating lapse. After months of binge-free living, feeling happy and confident, and believing that the behavior was "all gone," she reached out with a message titled, "Old habits return..."

What is the best way to respond when this happens? How do we move from a sense of failure to viewing the challenge as revealing of new skills to be learned? How do we empower ourselves to believe we can experience enduring freedom from the throes of binge eating and at the same time, do the work that needs doing every single day?

Kori explains how the skills we learn in one context of recovery may not be the same skills that are effective in other contexts and outlines the foundation of finding true freedom and confidence. It begins with a zero complacency policy combined with an approach of emotional mastery.
