Learning How to Love - Part 19
"Jealousy"
With Rabbi Ari Sollish
(Recorded live at the Intown Jewish Academy on March 29, 2020)

Jealousy is one of those emotions that we might understandably chalk up to being a human vice. Jealousy seems to serve no positive purpose; rather, it keeps us shackled to daydreams of futility. "What I could have had -- if only." "What the other has -- instead of me."

But the Kabbalists explain that every character trait stemming from the soul possesses a positive face. After all, every shadow is born of light. So with jealousy: there is a healthy form of this emotion, which instead of dragging us down to the depths can lift us up to the greatest heights.

What are these two forms of jealousy? How might we differentiate between them? And how can we work toward filtering out negative jealousy and cultivating positive jealousy?

In this edition of Kabbalah & Coffee we discuss we explore the soul of jealousy and discover why a little jealousy is key to spiritual growth -- despite the fact that it's potential is devastating.
