We all have different perceptions and see things differently.
When a person is certain in his opinion so long as it is in line with Halacha (Hashems Law) he must have faith in it and go with it all the way.
If it wasn't for Nachshon who entered the Reed Sea and split it for all of us who knows what would have happened.
He had such faith in his perception of things that he was sure the Sea would split.. and so it did!
