Ok so hear me out...This one's a little different.
We've been working on 'Two Tokes' for a couple months now, it kind of took on a life of it's own through the creative process. With previous collaborations, B.Helix and myself have done large sections and meshed them together, with this one we wanted to use a different formula. Six sections, three from both of us, alternating through the course of the mix. Starting off with an abstract mesh of samples (TF?) from myself, melding into a delicious tune from The Cinematic Orchestra featuring Roots Manuva, which kind of sets the tone for the journey. Abstract 7 is more of a Cinematic Journey of Sound, utilizing various cultural sounds and styles. Both of us tried to meet each others styles halfway, delving into hip hop, lyrical flavors, driving middle eastern sounds, live, big room tracks, deep vocals, complex drums, deep and trippy breakdowns, ambient sounds with spoken word, original production from B. Helix and various tracks peppered with eclectic samples to add a bit of flavor.
Our Magnus Opus as a duo thus far I believe.
We Didn't really have a plan going in as to the overall feel of the session but it began to take shape as the set evolved. 'Two Tokes' is an auditory trip, a journey of sound. Take the time to listen all the way through if you can and you'll see what we mean. Hope you enjoy the ride, we enjoyed the creative process.
