In every way, except in his human failures, David is a type of Jesus Christ. He is the shepherd of Israel, the warrior King who defeats the enemies of his people. Samuel anointed David, just as John anointed Christ. David would wander in the desert as evil Saul pursued him, just as Jesus was driven into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. The pathway to the crown for David was through the shedding of blood just as the pathway to the crown for Jesus was the blood of the cross. In this message, we continue to see how David is a type of Christ, as in God’s perfect timing, the people of Israel celebrate David as their anointed King.
