Description

In this beautiful and gentle sharing, I speak to Gabe Gartrell about her involvement in setting up the Community Garden in Dodges Ferry, alongside her colleague Claire Boost. The garden is one of the most recognised community accomplishments throughout Tasmania. From a patch of grass to what is now a huge garden that has a hothouse, many raised garden beds, heaps of fruit and berry trees, private plots, school plots, a wood-fired pizza oven, labyrinth and a food co-op. Most of all, it is a vibrant and nurturing gathering space for the community. This conversation was recorded as part of the celebrations of the 25th Anniversary of Okines Community House in April 2025.
