Description

A magnificent stretch of coastline in north-eastern Tasmania was named the Bay of Fires by an English explorer in 1773 as he watched the smoke rise from campfires lit by the first Tasmanians who knew it as Larapuna. We go on a sound journey along that coast, with members of the Tasmanian Aboriginal community reflecting on their connection to this land.
Spoken word by Jim Everett. Voices include Aunty Eva Richardson and Rodney Dillon. Music by Ash Dargan (Oanyi, which is an Aboriginal word for rainbow) and Dewayne Everett-Smith singing 'milaythina nika mana mapali', words by C. Mansell, H. Sculthorpe, J. Sculthorpe, T. Sainty
