Description

Here's my smooth jazz guitar version of the classic floor-filler by the Average White Band. They were indeed a bunch of white British guys but they were never average. They had that American sound soul down pat.
This track reached number one on both sides of the Atlantic and is still one of the all time top 20 sampled sounds.
My version owes more to Jeff Lauber's version. Candy Dulfer does one too I think. I saw the original band back in the 70's. The singer Hamish (the one with the gruff voice) was in Paul McCartney's band for years. He still does solo gigs at Jazz festivals in the UK.
Many Thanks to https://soundcloud.com/calaminus for pointing out a great version at www.averagewhiteband.com/_soulmine/au…o/pieces.mp3 ? One of the coolest out of many from Ziggy and the Stereotypes ;-)
