Suffice it to say, 2020 has been a dark and tumultuous year. Similarly, the time of Jesus' coming was a time of intense political and social unrest in Israel, which means that from the moment of his birth, Jesus was no stranger to chaos. As both the prophet Isaiah promised, and the angels announced to the shepherds, Jesus came to bring peace— to bring wholeness to our relationship with God, and others. As Jesus’ followers, we are called to the hard work of bringing peace to our relationships, and making the presence of God’s kingdom visible in a beautifully tangible way.
