Playful Pop-up Books Exhibition
Wednesday 12 December 2018 - Sunday 3 March 2019
For a fun, free activity for children and families this summer, head along to the Playful Pop-up Books exhibition of 24 stunning examples of movable and pop-up books from Auckland Libraries’ Heritage Collections.
This special exhibition of captivating pop-up books will transport you to a fantasy world of children’s storybook characters; highlights include a three-dimensional tunnel book from 1851, a 1930s edition of Pinocchio and contemporary adaptations of the classic children’s stories Peter Pan and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The exhibition also features a hand shadow book made to be viewed with a torch in hand and intricate private press pop-up books.
Encourage the children in your life to get creative and have a go at the interactive activities on offer at the exhibition, including a pop-up books reading zone and Peter Pan dress-up props. Then take a snap of them in front of the themed photo wall.
