Description

As the Heritage Exhibition ”Don’t Leave Town Until You’ve Seen The Country” enters its final weeks, clarinetists Janina Stenbo and Naomi Dekker along with Sheryl Clarke on piano, explore the adventurous theme of travel with works by New Zealand composers representing different areas of the county. Douglas Lilburn (Whanganui), Nathalie Hunt (Hawkes Bay), and Ross Harris (Amberley/Wellington). Then they finally launch over to Europe to conclude with Mendelssohn’s Konzertstucke-Works written specifically as tour pieces for the Baermann brothers.

This programme captures that sense of excitement and anticipation when exploring the unfamiliar and the awe of experiencing vistas newly revealed.
