Description

In the Gospel of John we read about 'the disciple whom Jesus loved', a name given to the author himself; John! John appears to be quite humbly identifying himself as someone loved by Jesus and someone who understands the depth of his love perhaps more so than many of those around him. After washing his disciples' feet, Jesus sits down for a meal with his disciples; and gives them a new commandment, "Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other" (John 13:34). If we are to love in the way that Jesus loved us, we must be able to learn a thing or two from someone who knew the love of Jesus perhaps more so than anyone else. In this message, Ben talks about two of John's traits - his intimacy with Jesus and him being teachable - which can help us to love other people and to love our community.
