Description

In the series, ‘The Promises of God’, Ben Hodgson talks about ‘The Promise of Grace’. Grace is defined as ‘undeserved favour’. We cannot earn it; it is an unconditional gift. Matthew 9:9-13 clearly shows that God was interested in people such as the tax collector and the sick and He showed grace to everyone whether they were rich or poor. The promise of grace is unconditional in that grace comes first, before our apology or repentance and God desires us to experience relationship and not religion or perfection. The promise of grace is also unpopular in that, just as in Jesus' time, there will always be opposition to grace, mercy and kindness. Christians need to be dispensers of grace to all nations, even when people do not deserve it. Finally, the promise of grace is universal; available for all people, and there is hope for everyone.
