When we're waiting for God's plan, it's good to do something productive. Patience in the Bible means 'long-suffering'. This is God's way: the long plan; the unseen plan.
Long-suffering doesn't mean getting more and more angry while we stuff our feelings down; It means having a plan and sticking to it.
We wait for God in His time: He will give us the green light when He's ready.
