Description

Luke Eicher - Lead Pastor of Grace, Sturgis, (Michigan, USA)- shared a message titled, 'Blessed are the Meek' which is a direct quote from Matthew 5:5 which concludes with the promise, "for they will inherit the earth." In the bible, meekness is to be "pursued" (1 Timothy 6:11), to be "put on" (Colossians 2:12), to be "walked out" (Ephesians 4:2) and is a Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). In this message, Luke unpacks what meekness looks like. Firstly, it is Surrender; much like a wild horse tamed and trained to give its strength to another. secondly, meekness is submission, in that we have to trust the one we have given our strength to. Thirdly, meekness is serving, as it requires that we give our strength away in the same way that Jesus did on the cross. Finally, meekness is sacrifice in that our strength is withheld and under control. Jesus is the ultimate example of meekness as he offered His strength in our place and now - in return - we can bring our strength (and our weaknesses) to Him.
