In the first message of our autumn series recapping our vision for 2021, ‘Stand’, Paul Jukes talks about going 'Back to School'. In 2 Peter, chapter 1, Peter wrote to the church about recognising wrong teachings and discussed how we can relearn and overcome negative teaching, grow and lead a godly life. God equips us with everything we need to learn, if we leave all our baggage at the cross. We need God to empower us to learn the right way and just like with school, we need to God to help us choose the correct options. The options we should choose are listed in 2 Peter 1:5-7 as moral excellence (goodness), knowledge, self-control, patient endurance, godliness, brotherly affection and love for everyone. Jesus always sees what we can become and is gracious towards us, even when others condemn us.
