In his message on Offering Sunday 2026, Ps Paul Jukes challenged us to consider our motives when giving to God. In scripture, there are those who give to show off what they have, those who give with the expectation to be paid back and those who give to fulfil their religious duty. These types of givers will only ever receive short-term fulfilment. If we're looking for long-term fulfilment and eternal rewards, our motive for giving should be to give wholeheartedly to the Lord, like Mary who anointed the feet of Jesus with perfume worth a year's wages (John 12:3). Mary was influenced by worship and service and her reward was the presence of Jesus and the favour of God. There is nothing more precious than that!
