In Genesis, God gave a corporate command to be fruitful, to increase in number and to fill the earth. In this message, Ps Sara Jukes compares Genesis 11 - which is set shortly after the flood - with the New Testament passage in Acts 2 which is set on the day of Pentecost. The difference between these two similar passages lies in the fruit and in who the fruit was for! For example, the people in Genesis were self-centred, building a tower to make a name for themselves; however, the disciples in Acts 2 were Jesus-centred. Both groups of people started in one place and were together, yet Genesis ends with the people being scattered, whereas Acts ends with thousands of people being added. Similarly, Jesus gave us a corporate command to be fruitful when he said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)
