Sara Jukes continues the “Back to basics” series with a message on “intimacy”.

Sara highlights the importance of intimacy with God and that being paramount to our various other relationships. She talks about fear of intimacy that some of us struggle with and the negative effects of that on ourselves and on other people. James 4:8 and Psalms 73:28 showcase how we must be close to God; however, to do so we have to trust Him in all our endeavours and allow Him into all aspects of our lives.

This may not be easy especially if we have been damaged and hurt in the past, nevertheless we must be self aware. To be kind to others we first have to be kind to ourselves and allow God to clothe our nakedness as we give everything to him. Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden hiding from God but it was only once they had that encounter with Him that he was able to come through for them. Much like in Matthew 27:51 when God tore the curtains.

Sara left us with the important question that God is perhaps asking us today: where are we? What veils do we have up in our lives that stop Him from entering in? It’s important to note that God loves regardless of whether other people do or what we did in our past. Not matter how terrible - God loves us and wants the best for us.

Sara left us with Philippians 3:10 to symbolise that without the presence of God everything we do and all the knowledge we have means nothing.
“God wants to break into your life - so His presence can flow in and through you”. God is always chasing after you so be intimate with Him.
