Steffy Hodgson brings this week’s message on ‘Peace.’ Steffy told us how Shalom in the old testament means to feel complete and whole. However, Isaiah spoke of a different kind of peace. (Isaiah 9:6-7). ‘Eirene’ is the peace spoken about in the New Testament, it means to be restored from brokenness to becoming complete and whole. To find peace we must be still, stop what we are doing and listen to God so that we can realign ourselves with Him. (Psalm 46:10). When the storm hit the disciples, they became frightened and forgot that Jesus was in the boat with them. Once the storm had passed there was calm, and they were able to gain perspective. We should not worry during the storms of life and instead we should pray and trust God (Philippians 4:6-7). Jesus promised perfect peace and a gift of peace of mind that no one else could ever give us (John 14:27). Jesus was asleep in the boat and was not worried when the storm hit but was always present with the disciples and in control. Like the disciples, we don’t need to worry as God is always present and in control of every situation.
