Belgium’s Camiflage inaugurates his Snaretrade imprint this June with a three-track collection from the artist himself.
Camiel Hermans aka Camiflage is a Belgian producer and DJ, member of the p-l-a-n-e-t DJ collective in Brussels and now label-owner of his new imprint Snaretrade, pencilled for launch this coming May. His sound blurs the lines between House, Techno, Downtempo and Leftfield, resulting in something entirely unique in itself and as a DJ he’s known to take a similar path with sets traversing through genres for a dynamic journey across the electronic music spectrum.
Leading the package is the playful ‘Fake Carbonara’, featuring a spoken word guided recipe for an inauthentic take on the Italian classic atop bumpy 90’s-tinged hip hop beats, reversed string swells, plucked synths and heavy subs.
‘Further Instructions’ follows and shifts focus over to bubbling arpeggios, skippy, shuffled drums and intricately intertwined resonant licks, squelchy acid bleeps and tripped-out voices. ‘Beekkant’, named after a Molenbeek Metro Station, then rounds out the EP on the B-Side, bringing a UK bruk influence into play via crunchy broken drums, oscillating subs and ghostly synth textures.
