Celebrating both Abstraxion and DC Salas’s individual home cities – Marseilles and Brussels – ‘MRS x BXL’ is a concept so deliciously simple you’ll be surprised that it hasn’t happened before in Biologic’s rich 17 year history.
Each city takes a different side of the vinyl with three acts representing. First up we have Brussels with Azo taking the lead. Hot on the heels of her hugely successful ‘Space Tourism’ EP earlier this year, she joins forces with DJ Lovepills to kick start this cross-border boogie with a springy slab of cosmic acid house before Fuse Club resident Sara Dziri takes the batten and runs with it to a pounding relentless funky tech groove. Finally label co-boss DC Salas twists the vibe inside out with a smouldering low-tempo acid hip-slinker.
The same rich range is reflected on the flip as the Marseilles massive takeover. Caïn و Muchi set the tone with Persian prayer-call mysticism and a beguiling sense of drama, Abstraxion goes full flavour Italo and Oras Elone closes the EP with a throbbing slo-mo dark disco finale that pulsates and oozes attitude and finesse... Very much like the good folk of Marseilles themselves.
