Description

Pastor Femi Paul reminded us that character truly counts with God when He chooses people for blessing and responsibility. In 1 Samuel 16:7, God made it clear that while people focus on outward appearance, He looks at the heart. This is why David was chosen after Saul. Even though David’s seven brothers appeared stronger or more impressive, God rejected them one by one because He was searching for character, not appearance. Throughout scripture we see this pattern. God chose Joseph to preserve the twelve tribes, Ruth because of her noble character, and David to lead Israel. The message emphasised a powerful truth: good character is the winning formula in God’s kingdom.

We were reminded that faith must always produce visible character and conduct. As James teaches, faith without corresponding deeds is not dead. Character shows itself through what we do, not just what we claim to believe. Ultimately, the quality of our character determines the quality of the works that follow. As Pastor summarised it clearly: no character produces no works, little character produces little works, but good character produces good works. When we listen to God and align our lives with His ways, our souls enter into the abundance He desires for us.

Confession: Lord, shape my heart and strengthen my character so that my faith produces actions that honour You and reflect Your purpose for my life.
