1/101 – Evening Star / Iltatähti
First piece from the 101-piece cluster of songs called Maailmanlopun laulut, Songs From The End Of The World. All the lyrics, compositions and arrangements are ready, prepared during last two years. Next on, I will record them all, song by song, during some couple of years.
Lyrics will be of very deep personal level of experience and viewpoints concerning the state of the world and Finland in particular – ecological, social, political and my own life somewhere in the middle of all the hassle. I wrote the texts before Covid Era but I feel like this virus – how we as i mankind are reacting to it – is giving some special weight to the lyrics.
Music: As much as I love experimentation in music, in sounds, in arrangements, in compositions, I am not keen to exercise it by myself. I am embarrased person living confused life and I need to focus on what I really want to say. During years I have noticed that almost all I need to say musically, can be said with electric guitars and simple melodies, not so simple arrangements and maybe some keyboards here and there. And a certain rawness will be there, as well as some fails in my playing and singing - I just can’t stand this modern ”well produced radio pop”. For me, the highest value of all art is the human and the nature in there. And we the humans are imperfect, and the nature, be it inside of outside of a man, is unchained, uncontrollable.
OK, some big words there, back to the realism: Basically 101 is just a nice little experiment: can I handle project this big; can I make it feel like an entity at least for myself. Nice hobby, this rock music.
