My podcast partner Steve Barnes and I have recapped every episode of the Netflix series, Dark. We wanted to express our love of the show by recording some music from the show. This track is one of my favorite episodes of the show, Life and Death (S3E5).
The song describes being woken from a nightmare. The person wakes to hear an awful noise outside. They investigate and find a wounded fox. The pain of the creature is so great, that they think it's best to end its misery and raise a stone to perform a mercy killing. At that moment they see "new eyes" watching them and end up running away in fear. They choose to save their own life instead of worrying about the fox.
The meaning is open to interpretation, but the imagery in the song is so powerful, clear, and haunting. It's our pleasure to bring you this song.
