Description

The Isla Vista and UCSB communities are coming together this weekend for the 3rd Annual Isla Vista: The Beloved Community conference. The two-day event kicks off on Friday night at the St. George Youth Center and includes a panel on tenants rights hosted by the Isla Vista Tenants Union (IVTU). Those who attend the no-cost event are also invited to attend Saturday's "Mad as Hell: Our Minds, Our Bodies, Our Power" social justice conference at the UCSB Multicultural Center.

The Isla Vista Food Coop is also involved in the conference. General Manager Melissa Cohen speaks with reporter Emily Grace Hall about the history of the IV Food Coop, its place in the community, and how it's engaging in the conference this weekend.
