Reports of rape and sexual assaults have increased across Santa Barbara County, and can be linked to an increase of reports in Isla Vista. It's not clear whether sex crimes are increasing or because victims are becoming more comfortable reporting them.
Lt. Mark Signa with the UCPD is joined by Briana Conway with UCSB's CARE program, and Idalia Gomez with the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center to talk about this topic.
Also, Lt. Signa recalls his experience of being on the scene during the Isla Vista tragedy of May 23, 2014, when six UCSB students were murdered by another student.
