Housing is tight in Isla Vista. UC Santa Barbara dormitories have expanded to 'triples,' with three students per room. In this episode, host Dick Flacks speaks with George Thurlow, UCSB Chancellor's liaison to Isla Vista.
Thurlow shares some of the University's long-term plans for housing students and staff, including a controversial proposal by a local billionaire who is interested in pledging a large amount of money to build an experimental form of student housing.
In addition, Thurlow shares his thoughts on the Isla Vista Community Services District (IVCSD), as board members are set to begin work on March 1, even though a tax measure to fund the IVCSD did not get enough votes.
