For decades, La Casa de Maria has held a special place in the hearts both locals and tourists. The Montecito retreat & conference center suffered major damage in the 1/9 Storm, when giant boulders, debris and thick mud careened down San Ysidro Creek, which is adjacent to La Casa.
KCSB’s Lisa Osborn spoke with executive director Steve Jacobson and his predecessor, Stephanie Glatt, about La Casa’s early beginnings, post-storm rebuilding and recovery efforts, and their vision for its future.
