Description

In what’s known as the Secret War in Laos, the United States bombed Laos for 9 years straight in order to gain momentum in the Vietnam War. While that happened over 40 years ago, Laos citizens are still facing the consequences today. People are falling victim to unexploded bombs that are left over from the war. KCSB’s Kendra Lee speaks with Daniel Trevor, head of International Operations with GIVE and Cameron Mehl, a volunteer with GIVE who traveled to Laos. They tell us the story of Tong Bai, a Laos citizen who lost his arm to an unexploded bomb as well as touch on the Secret War in Laos.

GIVE, or Growth International Volunteer Excursions works in Laos every winter and summer. GIVE focuses on sustainable development projects as well as teaching English. For more information, you can visit www.givevolunteers.org.
