Lompoc’s Federal Prison was ground zero in COVID-19 cases in Santa Barbara County, quickly becoming the largest prison outbreak in the country. The American Civil Liberties Union filed a class-action lawsuit against the Bureau of Prisons alleging that the agency didn’t do enough to prevent the outbreak.
