Description

July 6 & 7th 2006, five top editors at the Santa Barbara News Press resigned. They claimed the newspaper’s wealthy publisher - Wendy McCaw was interfering with the paper’s news gathering and reporting activities. That was the beginning of what turned out to be a dramatic year for the newsroom staff at Santa Barbara's oldest newspaper. Eight reporters were fired - and legal action continues to this day. Two of those fired journalists spoke with KCSB News about their experiences. Melinda Burns and Dawn Hobbs were joined by Teamsters attorney Ira Gottleib for this conversation with KCSB's Lisa Osborn.
