July 6 & 7th 2006, five top editors at the Santa Barbara News Press resigned. They claimed the newspaper’s wealthy publisher - Wendy McCaw was interfering with the paper’s news gathering and reporting activities. That was the beginning of what turned out to be a dramatic year for the newsroom staff at Santa Barbara's oldest newspaper. Eight reporters were fired - and legal action continues to this day.
