The Average Unit Density Incentive Program, or AUD, was implemented in 2013 with the goal of incentivizing the building of rental housing for working class people in Santa Barbara. But rents at some of the first completed units hover near $3,000 a month for a one bedroom apartment- far beyond what the average worker in Santa Barbara can afford. KCSB News is taking a closer look at Santa Barbara's AUD program, speaking to those who are for and against the program. KCSB's Peyton Stotelmyre speaks with local activist Mickey Flacks who says the AUD test program should be allowed to continue.
