Last Thursday, March 3rd, the 50th anniversary conference for El Teatro de la Esperanza - also known as the “Theater of Hope” - was held at the UCSB Multicultural Center. Founded by Jorge Huerta and other UCSB students in the early 1970s, El Teatro de la Esperanza was known for being one of the first touring theater companies of its kind that was specifically created by Hispanic artists, for Hispanic audiences.
