University rankings are often the first factor in determining a student's interest in a college application choice. With thousands of options within America alone, many students opt out of doing their own college research and rely heavily on a quick google search of the top university/college rankings in America. KCSB's Jack Shea spoke with UCSB's professor of English Chris Newfield about his latest research into how the rankings are made in the first place.
